In India, Sniffer dogs were honoured for saving lives.




Army sniffer dogs named SOPHIE and VIDA, received the chief of army staff ‘Commendation Medal’ from the Indian army for their intellectual work. They have sniffed out an improvised explosive device and saved lives. The dog named Vida detected 5 mines and 1 grenade buried underground which prevented any casualties or injuries to own troops. Sophie detected explosives and sniffed out the presence of accelerant. In ‘ Mann Ki Baat’ radio broadcast, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid glowing tributes to India’s canine brigade and specifically mentioned about ‘Sophie’ and ‘Vida’.
Indian army feels proud to have many such brave dogs. Sophie and Vida received this honour for their best performed duties diligently.
